Core · FAQ
Questions about Avyna Core, asked before anything is signed.
Grouped by topic. Each answer says what is true today, including what the product does not do.
Scope
Does this replace Intune?
No. Intune stays your device management and deployment system, and Entra stays your directory. Avyna Core reads from them, acts through them, and adds what they do not hold.
Do we have to deploy the agent?
The agent is what supplies the device inventory — hardware detail, security configuration, installed software, local administrators, network, storage and peripherals. Without it those pages have little to show, and you are left with the Microsoft record.
The agent
How do we deploy it?
As an Intune Win32 app, with a registry key as the detection rule. You assign it like any other application.
Does it need a connection into our devices?
No. The agent connects out to the platform; nothing connects in. If the service cannot be reached it retries with backoff and keeps the report locally until it can send.
How often does it report?
Every ten minutes after a successful check-in by default, retrying every minute after a failure. Both are configurable, as is which of the five collection areas run at all.
Does it collect the user’s files or activity?
It collects device configuration and inventory — hardware, security settings, installed software, local accounts, network and storage. It is not a monitoring product: there is no alerting, no thresholds and no change detection, and it reports on a cycle rather than continuously.
Platforms
Does it work with macOS, iOS or Android?
The agent is Windows-only, and the anomalies report covers Windows devices. Other platforms managed in Intune appear in the device list.
Delegation
Can we limit what a helpdesk person can see?
Yes. A permission can be restricted to named users, groups or devices, and both the lists and the actions respect it. A scoped person never sees what they cannot act on.
Trust
How do we grant access, and what access does it need?
Through Microsoft’s admin consent page. A Global Administrator reviews the requested permissions on Microsoft’s screen and approves them there. There is no form on our site, no password to give us, and no service account to create. Consent is recorded and the connection is only live once Microsoft confirms it.
Do our people need another password?
No. Sign-in is with their Microsoft work account.
Where do our card details go?
To Stripe, and only to Stripe. Payment details are entered on Stripe’s own hosted checkout page, and card details never reach our servers or database. The product stores only a reference to your Stripe customer record. Invoicing, tax and payment processing are Stripe’s.
Pricing
How is it priced?
Two licences, both monthly. A user licence for each person using the product, priced by the plan you are on — the plan also decides which capabilities are switched on. And a device licence for each machine running the agent, priced the same on every plan. You buy the quantity you need and assign them. You choose monthly billing or a twelve-month commitment.
Do we pay for the agent if we don’t deploy it?
No. Device licences are bought separately and assigned per machine. Licence the machines you want reporting and leave the rest — you pay for what you assign.
Does the agent cost more on a bigger plan?
No. The device licence price is the same on every plan. Only the user licence price moves with the plan.
What happens when someone leaves?
Release their licence and give it to someone else. A licence is not tied to a person for good — it is yours to reassign. If you no longer need it, cancel it, and you can resume it before the cancellation takes effect.
How do people get access?
Someone who manages licences assigns one. A person without a licence can request access from inside the product, so the request reaches the right person rather than sitting in an inbox.
Can we change plan, or cancel?
A plan change is previewed before you confirm and prorated when applied. On month-to-month you can cancel at any time. On a twelve-month commitment the term stands until a cancellation window opens at the start of its final month, after which it renews into the next term. Moving to a smaller plan is not a self-serve action today.
Product
What happens to devices that stop reporting?
Devices not seen for three months are retired automatically, so the count reflects the estate you actually have.
Which languages does it support?
English and French, with a switch in the product, in light and dark themes.
In pilot
Ask about the pilot.
Intune tells you a device is enrolled, encrypted and compliant. It does not tell you which local administrator accounts exist on it, what software was installed outside your Intune deployments, or how the machine is really configured. And it does not let a first-line helpdesk agent reset a password or wipe a lost laptop without rights over your whole tenant. Core answers both.
